| Children's human rights have occupied the international agenda for the past 10 years. Although children are entitled to all rights guaranteed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child remains the most comprehensive piece of legislation for the betterment of children, covering a wide range of issues in its 54 articles including nutrition, education, health, child trafficking, child slavery, prostitution and child soldiers. The U.S. remains the only nation that has not ratified this Convention. Purposes of the Conferences: (a) to inform and educate the public regarding the principles of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. (b) to examine and analyze the 54 articles of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.
